New Taipei City’s international investment promotion efforts are in full swing! Following the successful conclusion of the 2023 International Trade Fair on September 13, New Taipei City government led a delegation of 22 top companies from diverse sectors, including ICT, smart manufacturing, ESG, and precision machinery, to explore opportunities in the ASEAN market through international exhibitions, trade fairs, and investment exploration. Their first destination is Malaysia, where they are participating in the “Smart Nation Expo 2023” from September 19 to 21, featuring the “New Taipei City Pavilion.” The initiative aims to boost cross-border cooperation opportunities in the ASEAN smart city sector and support New Taipei industries in expanding their international market presence.

Sheng Hsiao-Rung, Deputy Commissioner of the Economic Development Department of New Taipei City Government, highlighted that the pandemic has accelerated the rise of the digital economy. The “Twelfth Malaysia Plan” specifically emphasizes the expedited adoption of advanced technology and digitization, aligning with the prevailing trend of smart technology. With New Taipei City serving as the industrial capital with 300,000 enterprises, it boasts a competitive advantage in fields such as 5G, AIoT, smart manufacturing, and ESG. This makes it an attractive choice for businesses looking to establish a presence in Malaysia, and New Taipei enterprises are expected to significantly contribute to Malaysia’s urban development.

This year’s ‘Smart Nation Expo’ has gathered over 500 companies from 29 countries, featuring national pavilions from Taiwan, Hungary, South Korea, Russia, and Singapore, and attracting notable participants like TESLA and NEC.
