Arriving in Singapore on the 20th, the New Taipei City Trade Show commenced a series of market investigations and trade fairs. Building upon the success of the New Taipei City Pavilion at the “Smart Nation Expo 2023”, the export promotion team will further harness New Taipei’s robust industrial supply chain integration to promote cross-border cooperation and supply chain exchanges in the smart city sector between the two regions.

Sheng Hsiao-Rung, Deputy Commissioner of the Economic Development Department of the New Taipei City Government, emphasized Singapore’s pivotal role as the gateway to Southeast Asian trade and a major logistics hub. Singapore is a crucial nation for Taiwan’s expansion into the ASEAN market. Singapore’s “Research, Innovation and Enterprise 2025 Plan (RIE2025)” clearly indicates its active promotion of smart city development in industries such as smart electronics, precision engineering, public health, and sustainable energy. The aim is to seize this opportunity to provide outstanding technology and manufacturing services, encourage cross-border collaboration, and facilitate supply chain exchanges, ultimately solidifying Taiwan as Singapore’s trusted partner.

At the opening ceremony of the trade fair, the “New Taipei Smart City Consortium (NTSCC)” signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the “Association of Telecommunications & Technology Industry in Singapore (ATiS)” to facilitate exchanges across multiple industries. Mr. Cao Xuan Thang, the Trade Counselor of the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore, and Ms. Thai Thu Phoung, the Investment Counselor of the Vietnam Trade Office in Singapore, were also in attendance to gain insights into the support provided by the New Taipei City government for international market entry.

Furthermore, Nokia (SG office), a globally recognized communication service company, actively participated in the trade fair and delivered a concise presentation on “Connecting the Future: AI and Industry 4.0 Era,” highlighting potential collaboration opportunities between Taiwan and Singapore.

The delegation also visited the “Singapore 5G & AIoT Centre” and the “Punggol Digital District” for knowledge exchange. This allowed New Taipei companies to gain insights into Singapore’s digital development status and requirements, while sharing Taiwan’s industry experiences, creating a mutually beneficial knowledge-sharing platform.

This trade mission is not only a significant initiative by New Taipei City Government to re-engage in international economic exchanges after the pandemic but also a crucial step for businesses to explore international markets and create new opportunities. Leveraging its long-established international relationships, New Taipei City government assists local enterprises in identifying opportunities, making precise market entries, and effectively targeting their markets, thereby setting a steady and confident stride towards expanding into the ASEAN.
