Dedicated to fostering dementia-friendly initiatives and global collaboration New Taipei City Government’s Health Commissioner Ran-Chou Chen, led a delegation to attend the 2026 Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) Conference held in Lyon, France. ADI is one the world’s leading platforms for dementia research and policy exchange. During the conference, the delegation presented two papers about New Taipei City’s dementia care initiatives. They engaged with scholars from around the world including ADI Chair Meera Pattabiraman and Asia-Pacific Regional Director DY Suharya.
The conference themes were: risk reduction, early diagnosis, integrated care, dementia-friendly communities, and caregiver support, reflecting a global shift toward a more holistic and patient-centered dementia care.
At the conference, New Taipei City presented its research findings, highlighting innovative practices such as social prescribing and the establishment of dementia-friendly assistance stations. These initiatives attracted significant attention from the attendees.
New Taipei City has been actively advancing dementia-friendly policies through its integrated “Medicine–Exercise–Living” model, which emphasizes the integration of healthcare services, physical activity, and community-based support. This approach strengthens the link between medical systems and everyday community life, forming a comprehensive and continuous care network.
