[New Taipei City News] The post-pandemic performing arts scene is flourishing, drawing artists and groups from Japan, Korea, and the West to Taiwan for concerts and performances. Following the highly acclaimed performance by Japan’s top band YOASOBI in New Taipei earlier this year, the lead cast from the popular Korean drama “Queen of Tears,” Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, are also scheduled to visit Taiwan. Kim Ji Won’s inaugural fan meeting i7n Taiwan is slated for late July in Xinzhuang, New Taipei City. Today (July 5th), Commissioner Chang Ai-Chin of the New Taipei City Department of Information, Deputy Commissioner Sheng Hsiao-Rung of the Economic Development Department jointly unveiled Zepp New Taipei together with invited media. The event tour provided insights into the workings of this world-class performance hall, which was made possible as part of New Taipei City’s investment promotion initiatives. The venue is expected to serve as a hub for international and local artists performing in Taiwan, bolstering its appeal to fans and playing a pivotal role in developing New Taipei City’s concert events economy.
Commissioner Chang noted that Zepp New Taipei, the first overseas venue designed and developed by a professional Japanese team, is a rare high-spec indoor performance venue in Taiwan. Its world class sound and lighting equipment have already attracted numerous renowned artists from Taiwan, Japan, and Korea, including Japan’s top band YOASOBI, singer-songwriter milet, Korean girl group Dreamcatcher, and a European choir. In the latter half of this year, Korean bands 10CM and RIIZE, talented singer-songwriter Eve, and imase, creator of the viral hit “NIGHT DANCER,” are set to perform, solidifying Zepp New Taipei as a premier performance venue in the entertainment industry.

Deputy Commissioner Sheng underscored New Taipei City’s active approach through a one-stop investment facilitation service to assist companies in their business endeavors. This effort has enabled Japan’s Zepp to establish its presence in New Taipei and create a premier performance venue. The building itself employs a seismic and noise-resistant “Box In Box” construction method, ensuring that even when thousands of fans jump in unison during dynamic performances, adjacent, upper, and lower floors, as well as neighboring residences, remain unaffected by vibrations. This feature has attracted renowned domestic and international artists and groups to hold various performances at the venue. Moreover, the Zepp New Taipei venue is located in Honghui Plaza, which houses over 300 brands and provides public facilities for exhibition spaces. What’s more, the plaza’s convenient and comprehensive transportation network makes it a prime destination for citizens’ weekend leisure activities, further boosting the economies of the Xinzhuang, Wugu, Taishan, Luzhou, and Sanchong areas.

According to the Department of Information, Zepp’s strategic location in Xinzhuang, adjacent to the Taiwan Film and Audiovisual Institute forms a nexus with Linkou Film and TV Media Zone, Banqiao Documentary Base – Fuzhong 15, fostering a thriving film and television media industry cluster in New Taipei City. As part of New Taipei City’s efforts to promote a film and TV-friendly environment, over 7,000 film and TV productions have been filmed in the city. These include the Taiwan-Japan co-produced movie “18 X 2 Beyond Youthful Days,” starring Greg Hsu, and the popular online streaming TV series “The Victims’ Game 2.” Fans are encouraged to visit New Taipei not only for the chance to spot their favorite stars but also to explore the various iconic locations featured in these productions, immersing themselves in the emotions depicted on screen.
